About Me
Having graduated from University I originally pursued a career in education and worked primarily in a supportive role in Special Education for many years. Alongside balancing family life and dealing with complex bereavement, I found that my own personal therapy sessions gave me room to process, heal and integrate painful experiences. This inspired me to undertake an integrative counselling degree at the University of Ulster and I am delighted to be able to offer others a safe space to be heard, seen and valued.
Yourstorytherapy is rooted in my belief that listening closely to a client's story can be the key to understanding and exploring possible paths to change. I have found that whilst I deeply value counselling theories, approaches and techniques, it is my genuine compassion and acceptance that builds trust and makes all the difference in therapy. In a modern world full of information I believe many of us need someone who will intentionally listen and help us make sense of our stories.
I have a particular interest in working with autistic adults and have over 8 years experience working in the field of autism. I understand how individuals see and experience the world differently and so with patience, collaboration and insight I am able to offer assurance, understanding and support. As a neuroaffirming therapist, I have an appreciation for how people process information differently and I embrace different ways of connecting. Ultimately I will tailor and adapt therapy to support your individual needs.
